Last autumn media reports said Ukraine was designing Grom-2 complex which is a close analogue of Russian Iskander. Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko announced another test of a missile created in the framework of the program to restore the missile shield of the country which he declared in early 2016. He did not specify which missile was test fired.

"There was a lot of information that Ukraine mounted activities along the guideline. Media reported they want to create their own complex with foreign money. Its image resembles Iskander a lot. However I doubt their industry is capable of quickly dealing with all issues necessary for the creation of such a weapon. Moreover, many of the necessary enterprises are located in Donbass. Permanent and complete financing is also necessary," Kashin said.

Besides, the Ukrainian military-defense complex experiences a lack of skilled personnel. "I believe people who worked in 1991 - I mean missilemen - grew older and retired," Kashin said.
