Deputy Minister of Defense for the Management of the Armaments and Acquisitions Section, Lubor Koudelka, signed two contracts for the Czech Army.
The first contract concerns 16 Tatra type 815 flatbed trucks with a purpose-built platform installation and was concluded with the Military Technical Institute (VTÚ). The purchase of flatbed vehicles will ensure the mobility of units armed with the RBS-70NG anti-aircraft system. The deliveries will be completed in 2022. The Tatra 815 is a truck family. It uses the traditional Tatra concept of rigid backbone tube and swinging half-axles giving independent suspension. The vehicles are available in 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x8, 10x10, 12x8 and 12x12 variants. There are both air-cooled and liquid-cooled engines available with power ranging from 230–440 kilowatts (310–590 hp). As a successor to Tatra 813 it was originally designed for extreme off-road conditions, while nowadays there are also variants designated for mixed (both off- and on-road) use.
The second contract, concluded with Husky CZ s.r.o., aims at supplying the Army with two types of backpacks. It is a framework agreement to be implemented until October 2024. These two types of backpacks have a capacity of 75 and 40 liters respectively, which are designed to equip soldiers in combat activities and training. The last similar equipment was acquired more than 10 years ago.
