While retaining the crossing capacities of the previous version, CNIM has reduced the logistical needs of the Motorized Floating Bridge in order to better meet the operational needs of the French Army:
* Reduction / Optimization of human resources: a single remote control to control the PFM modules
* Reducing the logistics footprint and deployment time: integration of the ramp into the module
Example of savings for a 20 m ferry: -50% coupling and -70% personnel required.
During the month of October 2018, the technical section of the Ground force (STAT, Section Technique de l’Armée de Terre) in charge of the management of weapons programs carried out the Technical Operational Assessment (EVTO) of the Renovated Motorized Floating Bridge (PFM F2). The Army bears witness to the tactical and operational advantages brought to the Renovated PFM: "The experience feedback from recent engagements of France, in Africa in particular, has shown the need to have a crossing capacity which is a real asset. operational ", explained the Chief of Battalion (major) Quentin, in charge of the evaluation of the Renovated PFM. In this context, the PFM represents a major strategic asset for the tactical crossing. "The renovation of the PFM aims to extend the crossing capacity of the PFM, from logistics crossing to tactical crossing, while retaining its current capabilities," added Battalion Commander Quentin.
