Australian Defence Force receives LTM1060-3.1 crane trucks from Ventia and Liebherr.

Under the Land 8120 Phase 1 agreement between Ventia and the Australian Department of Defence, a fleet of Liebherr LTM1060-3.1 cranes has been successfully delivered as confirmed by Australian Defence. These cranes were manufactured by Liebherr Australia and were transported from Germany, with the initial vehicle arriving in August 2022.

Following their arrival, the Support Services team at Ventia has collaborated closely with the Capability Acquisition & Sustainment Group (CASG) and Liebherr Australia, the equipment manufacturing partner, to finalize tailored modifications to meet the specific requirements of the Defence.

Among the 292 vehicles being supplied as part of this contract, the Liebherr LTM1060-3.1 crane stands out as a remarkable addition. Capable of reaching speeds over 80 km/h, it boasts impressive self-deployment capabilities. Its six-wheel drive system grants it off-road proficiency, and it holds a lifting capacity of 60 tons (48 tons when configured for Defence purposes). Notably, the crane incorporates cutting-edge technology, ensuring top-tier safety measures and lift analysis features.

Ventia's role within the agreement extends beyond the mere delivery of the cranes. As stipulated in the contract, Ventia is actively supporting the integration of these cranes into service. This is achieved through the provision of tailor-made training programs and specialized technical documentation for Defence personnel stationed across various national sites. A significant milestone in this endeavor was the inaugural training course conducted by Ventia's Training team in collaboration with partners such as Liebherr, the Army Logistics Training Centre (ALTC), CASG, and Army Headquarters (AHQ). Taking place at the School of Military Engineering in Holsworthy, NSW, the course involved eight operators. This event signifies the beginning of a comprehensive six-month training rollout plan that will span multiple sites across the country.
