Saab will provide the sight- and fire control capability for the BAE Systems’ CV90 ordered by the Czech Republic earlier in 2023 and will carry out the work in Sweden and the Czech Republic. In May 2023 Saab received an order from BAE Systems Hägglunds for sight- and fire control capability for Slovakia’s CV90 combat vehicles.

“The new order further underlines our great collaboration with BAE Systems Hägglunds as well as our ability to scale up production,” says Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s business area Surveillance.

Saab’s sight- and fire control capability for tanks and combat vehicles provides high hit probability against ground and air targets, regardless of the vehicle’s movements.

The BAE Systems CV90 represents a versatile family of armored combat vehicles, purposefully crafted to serve a multitude of military requirements. This adaptable design is a hallmark of the CV90, permitting seamless customization tailored to the precise demands of various military units and missions. From its role as an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) to that of an armored personnel carrier (APC), a command vehicle, a recovery vehicle, and beyond, the CV90's modular structure offers flexibility unparalleled in its class.

Notably, the CV90 stands out for its diverse armament options. It accommodates an array of weapon systems, ranging from automatic cannons to anti-tank missiles and machine guns. This versatility equips it to excel in both offensive and defensive roles on the battlefield.

Ensuring the safety and security of its occupants, the CV90 boasts an advanced armor system that provides exceptional protection against an array of threats. It stands resilient against small arms fire, artillery shell splinters, and even chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) hazards. Moreover, the vehicle can be further fortified with additional armor kits for heightened safeguarding.

Mobility is another hallmark of the CV90. Its superior agility, courtesy of an advanced suspension system, potent engine, and low ground pressure Canadian-made Soucy composite rubber tracks, allows it to navigate challenging terrains, including forests, swamps, and snow-covered landscapes.

In an era of network-centric warfare, the CV90 does not lag behind. It comes equipped with cutting-edge communication systems, seamlessly integrating into such environments. This capability facilitates real-time data sharing, greatly enhancing situational awareness on the battlefield.

Within the vehicle's interior, the emphasis on crew comfort and ergonomics is evident. Ergonomic seating, climate control, and advanced technology interfaces are thoughtfully incorporated to mitigate crew fatigue during extended missions.

Internationally recognized and in service with numerous countries, the CV90 has emerged as one of Sweden's most successful armored vehicle exports. Its widespread adoption attests to its efficacy and reliability.

The commitment to excellence doesn't end there. BAE Systems continues to invest in research and development, ensuring the CV90 remains at the vanguard of armored vehicle technology. This dedication underscores its enduring relevance and ongoing evolution in the realm of modern warfare.
