Regarding the Chinese corner gun, China has developed at least three weapons similar to this one: the HD-66, the CF-06, and the CS/LW9. These systems primarily use the QSZ-92 pistol, although the LW9 also uses the NP22/34 pistols. The CS/LW9 was developed by the Chinese Ordnance Industry Research Institute in 2005 in an attempt to create a system similar to the Israeli Cornershot.
The HD-66, developed by Chongqing Changfeng Machinery Co Ltd, is an example of a Chinese corner guns. Designed to meet the specific needs of urban combat and anti-terrorist situations, the HD-66 allows operators to effectively fire from cover without endangering themselves. Equipped with the capability to mount various accessories, such as cameras, visible and infrared lasers, flashlights, suppressors, and rubber bullets, the HD-66 offers good versatility. The chief designer of this device, Qing Shanseng, insisted that the HD-66 is an indigenous creation, distinct from the original Israeli CornerShot, although it is inspired by its concept. This weapon primarily uses the QSZ-92 pistol, reflecting a combination of innovation and adaptability to the modern Chinese arsenal.
The CF-06, also developed by Chongqing Changfeng Machinery Co Ltd and Shanghai Sea Shield Technologies Company, represents another advancement in the field of Chinese corner guns. Like the HD-66, it employs the QSZ-92 pistol as the primary weapon but distinguishes itself with its customization capabilities and additional modules.
Launched in 2005, the CS/LW9 is distinct in its design, with a handle at the bottom that allows the weapon to be turned left or right. While it can use the QSZ-92 pistol, unlike its counterparts, it is also capable of using the NP22/34 pistols and the CS/LW9.
The CornerShot system, created by Lieutenant Colonel Amos Golan of the Israeli Defense Forces, has marked the history of corner guns. It allows users to see and shoot from cover without endangering themselves. However, recent Chinese technology seems to incorporate elements of augmented reality, allowing soldiers of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) to see the weapon's sight on their visors, offering greater flexibility for shooting. The Krummlauf, an accessory for the famous German Sturmgewehr of World War II, can also be cited as the first corner shot.
