DEFEA 2023: Rheinmetall KF41 tracked IFV a strong contender for modernization of Greek army.
ATHENS, Greece, May 9, 2023 – From May 9 to 11, at the DEFEA defense exhibition in Athens, Greece, German company Rheinmetall showcases its Lynx KF41 tracked armored Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV). The Lynx KF41 is a strong contender for the modernization of the mechanized brigades of the Hellenic Armed Forces, offering superior capabilities in survivability, lethality, mobility, and command and control.

As one of the most advanced infantry fighting vehicles on the market, the Lynx KF41 has garnered considerable international interest. Hungary is the first NATO country to introduce the vehicle into service, with initial deliveries having taken place in 2022.
The Lynx KF41 concept features a complete family of vehicles with a common drive module and flexible mission modules in numerous variants. This modular design allows the basic vehicle to be configured for various roles, such as infantry fighting, air defense, command, or medical support. The system significantly reduces lifecycle costs and allows military users to adapt force structures or develop new capabilities quickly to respond to evolving battlefield conditions.
Characterized by high levels of survivability, mobility, and combat power, the Lynx KF41 boasts a high growth potential, including in terms of total weight and power consumption. The Lance 2 turret, equipped with powerful sensor systems, takes full advantage of next-generation 30mm programmable ammunition fired by its main MK30-2/ABM autocannon and the advanced Spike LR2 anti-tank missile system, allowing it to engage both symmetric and asymmetric threats effectively.
Fully digitized and based on the NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA), Lynx KF41 and Lance 2 integrate the vehicle crew, dismounts, and the vehicle itself into the digitized battle management system. Improved situational awareness capabilities enable rapid and highly automated target acquisition or target transfer and allow integration of multispectral reconnaissance systems, including drones and loitering munitions, for target acquisition and engagement beyond the line of sight.
The modular multi-layered protection concept of the Lynx KF41 combines passive and active elements, providing its crew with protection against various threats, including IEDs, mines, direct and indirect fire, cluster munitions, and anti-tank guided weapons. Its high assertiveness and mobility enable forces to conduct complex military operations across diverse environments and against a wide range of threats.
With a large interior volume unmatched in its class, the Lynx KF41 can accommodate up to eight soldiers in addition to its three crew members, allowing for effective combat operations. The vehicle's digitization and modern design ensure it can tackle contemporary adversaries while offering upside potential against future threats. The modular architecture enables seamless integration of further mission equipment or additional variants within a single vehicle family.
