The Overview system joins the company's existing lineup of vehicle vision systems. Designed as a localized sensor sub-system, Overview offers drivers a zero-range ground intercept view, aiding in effective maneuvering and threat detection. The system is particularly beneficial for large military vehicles, which often face challenges in visibility due to their size and structure.
The Overview provides a 360-degree field of view, extending to wheel or track lines, and aims to improve safety protocols for armored vehicle operations. It addresses traditional blind spots and could potentially eliminate the need for a bankman within the vehicle crew. This feature enhances the safety of both onboard personnel and dismounted troops in proximity to the vehicle.
The system integrates images from multiple high-specification sensors situated around the vehicle, delivering an optimized view of the surrounding environment. It is compatible with Rheinmetall Electronics UK’s existing TRAILBLAZER Driver Vision System camera modules, providing a holistic situational awareness solution. The real-time video output is highly intuitive and can be accessed through networked or point-to-point video interfaces.
Wayne Cranwell, Head of Sales at Rheinmetall Electronics UK, emphasized the system's immediate advantages for vehicle crews. According to Cranwell, the Overview system not only aids in maneuvering but also enhances the detection of close-in threats. He added that the system requires minimal training and is built to military-grade quality standards, making it a turn-key solution ready for Open Architecture integration.
