The specific model for Egypt, designated K9A1EGY, is scheduled for delivery in 2024. This variant of the K9, specifically designed for the Egyptian forces, was showcased in a premiere at EDEX 2023. Its production, with a significant portion to be carried out in Egypt, will start soon. Hanwha Defense, the manufacturer of the K9, will also provide various support programs, such as personnel training and technical maintenance.

The K9 Thunder is known for its advanced capabilities, including a 155 mm cannon and a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, offering considerable firepower. For crew protection, it withstands 14.5 mm armor-piercing rounds and 152 mm artillery shell fragments.

In terms of mobility, the K9 Thunder reaches a maximum speed of 67 km/h and has an operational range of 360 km. It is equipped with a CBRN protection system, a heating system for cold environments, and internal and external communication systems. It also features a manual fire suppression system and an automatic fire control system.

The K9, designed to be operated by a crew of five, has dimensions that allow for rapid deployment: 7.44 meters in length, 3.4 meters in width, and 2.73 meters in height to the turret roof. Production in Egypt will begin in 2023, to manufacture 67% of the components locally.

The K10 ARV, an ammunition resupply vehicle responsible for re-arming the K9 Thunder and built upon the K9's chassis, offers enhanced mobility and protection compared to traditional cargo trucks. This integration strengthens the Egyptian artillery's capability to operate effectively in various combat environments.
