IDET 2023: EVPU Defence displays Mantis Mini RWCS mounted on Ford Raptor pickup truck.
The Mantis Mini is a remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS) that offers exceptional versatility and firepower. This impressive system is designed to be installed on various platforms, including wheeled or tracked light armored vehicles, military vessels, patrol boats, or stationary platforms. Its primary purpose is to effectively eliminate enemy troops and engage lightly armored land and air targets such as trucks, LAVs (Light Armored Vehicles), and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).

One of the key features of the Mantis Mini is its ability to integrate 5.56 or 7.62 mm machine guns, adhering to both NATO and Eastern standards. This flexibility allows operators to adapt the weapon station to their specific requirements and ammunition availability. To facilitate precise targeting and firing, the Mantis Mini employs a modular multi-sensor electro-optical system. This system consists of a range of sensors, including a day camera, thermal imaging (night) camera, laser rangefinder, and an optional aiming camera. These sensors provide comprehensive reconnaissance, aiming, and firing capabilities, ensuring effective engagement in various operational scenarios.
The gunner operates the Mantis Mini from an operator terminal equipped with essential components such as an operator screen, operator control panel, and control handles. This setup enables intuitive and efficient control over the weapon station, enhancing the operator's situational awareness and response time.
The Mantis Mini boasts two independent stabilized axes, enabling precise targeting and tracking of threats in both azimuth and elevation. This stabilization significantly enhances the system's accuracy and enables effective engagement while the platform is in motion or experiencing vibrations.
Additionally, the Mantis Mini offers several optional features to further enhance its capabilities. It can be integrated with additional protection systems, such as a laser and radar irradiation detection system combined with smoke grenade launchers. These systems enhance the platform's survivability and provide enhanced protection against various threats. Furthermore, the Mantis Mini offers the option of integrating Level 2 ballistic protection, further bolstering the crew's safety in hostile environments.
Key advantages of Mantis Mini include the fact that the choice of the weapon system and sensors may be individually modified to suit the needs and requirements of the customer.

Ford Raptor, a top-class basis for the Mantis Mini RWCS
Most Raptors are powered by a twin-turbo 450-hp V-6 bolted to a 10-speed automatic transmission. However, an even wilder, more powerful Raptor R is coming in 2023 using a version 700-hp version of the Mustang Shelby GT500's supercharged 5.2-liter V-8, which will finally give the 702-hp Ram TRX something intimidating to snort at. While the R comes standard with 37-inch BFGoodrich K02 tires, standard rubber for twin-turbo V-6 models measures at 35 inches, but 37s are optional.
This power is harnessed through a robust 10-speed automatic transmission, enabling seamless gear shifts and exceptional acceleration, both on and off the road. The advanced Terrain Management System offers selectable driving modes, including Normal, Sport, Weather, Mud/Sand, Rock Crawl, and Baja, optimizing performance in diverse conditions. The Raptor's high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy body ensures durability while shedding unnecessary weight, enhancing both agility and fuel efficiency.
Embracing the digital era, the Ford Raptor incorporates a range of cutting-edge technologies to elevate the driving experience. The SYNC 4 infotainment system with an available 12-inch touchscreen provides seamless connectivity, allowing drivers to effortlessly access navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. Furthermore, features like FordPass Connect and Ford Co-Pilot360 enhance safety, connectivity, and convenience, keeping occupants informed and protected on and off the road.
