At the recent Tech Symposium, jointly organized by the Indian Army's Northern Command Headquarters, the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), and IIT-Jammu, the UGV ECARS made its debut. Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd, the brainchild behind ECARS, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge, known for pioneering innovations in autonomous military technology. ECARS is engineered to execute a wide array of missions, encompassing surveillance, security, rescue operations, and safety.

What sets ECARS apart is its arsenal of features, including an advanced collision avoidance system and sophisticated mission planning capabilities. It boasts a speed range of 16 to 20 km/h, with a payload capacity of 350 kg and a towing payload capacity of 500 kg. This UGV is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, enabling border area monitoring without the need for on-site deployment of soldiers, soon to be utilized by the Indian Army as required.

ECARS empowers the Indian Army personnel with a surveillance range of approximately 10 kilometers, eliminating the need for the deployment of soldiers. Furthermore, the vehicle boasts a self-defense mechanism that enables it to respond to adversaries through fire-fighting and chemical spraying, ensuring its own safety.
