The Defense Minister of Iran announced that the export of Iranian military products has tripled in the past year, according to the Tasnim news agency. Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani stated during a gathering of Defense Ministry officials on June 10 that the export of products developed by his ministry has significantly increased in the previous Iranian year, which concluded on March 20. Additionally, the production of non-military goods and services has doubled, and the number of military products has seen an 81 percent increase over the past year, the minister added. He emphasized that the Defense Ministry has established specific objectives to enhance the production of military and civilian equipment and services. This includes strengthening capabilities in industries such as missiles, drones, air defense, electronic warfare, and promoting defense diplomacy by creating new export capacities.

In late May 2023, Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, expressed Iran's willingness to export defense equipment and share military and defense expertise with friendly nations. Iran is well-known for exporting a significant number of drones, specifically the Shahed-136, to Russia, along with ammunition.

He stated, "By showcasing the Islamic Republic's defense and military capabilities and sharing them with friendly countries, we can expand defense relations and enhance deterrence." Major General Baqeri further emphasized that the Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to elevate ties in various domains, including the wholesale export of defense and military equipment, training, exercises, and practical knowledge transfer.
