Japan Self-Defense Force orders 300 Saab Carl-Gustaf multirole weapons.

Saab has received an order from the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JGSDF) for the supply of the man-portable, multi-role weapon system Carl-Gustaf. The order includes over 300 systems and deliveries will take place in 2025.

Carl-Gustaf stands as a portable multi-role weapon system, offering extensive tactical versatility by virtue of its diverse array of ammunition options. Remarkably lightweight, it has emerged as the primary shoulder-fired weapon in numerous armies. It has been in active service with the Japan Self-Defense Forces since 1979.

Görgen Johansson, the head of Saab's business area Dynamics, remarks, "This order serves as further evidence of our Carl-Gustaf multi-role weapon system meeting the exacting standards of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. We eagerly anticipate continuing our support to enhance their capabilities."

Proven effective on the battlefield, Carl-Gustaf delivers the required efficacy for soldiers. Its broad selection of ammunition types renders it adaptable to various scenarios, be it neutralizing armored vehicles or structures, or providing illumination during nocturnal operations on the battlefield.

With a storied history dating back to 1948, the Carl-Gustaf system is currently distributed to over 40 countries across the globe.
