Ukraine continues to produce its own equipment and does not solely rely on deliveries from Western countries to support its war effort. The range of Ukrainian products extends from simple ammunition to armored vehicles and drones. The Kozak-2M1 is a Ukrainian-made armored vehicle, and its appearance on the frontline allows us to delve deeper into this lesser-known vehicle.

The Kozak-2M1 is an improved tactical version of the Kozak-2, which is itself a multi-purpose armored vehicle. The vehicle is based on the Iveco EuroCargo 4x4 chassis and features a V-shaped armored hull designed to offer enhanced ballistic protection. It can accommodate a crew of five and up to 11 personnel in blast-resistant seats. The vehicle measures 6.44m in length, 2.5m in width, and 2.65m in height, with a gross vehicle weight of 15,000 kg.

The vehicle offers ballistic protection up to STANAG 4569 Level 2 against 7.62 x 51 armor-piercing rounds. It can withstand a mine blast explosion of up to 3 kg of TNT. Additional features like bulletproof glass blocks around the weapons mount further enhance crew survivability. This Kozak-2M1 is equipped with a remote-controlled turret that can be armed with 14.5mm caliber machine guns.

The Kozak-2M1 is powered by an Iveco Tector 6-cylinder, 6-liter turbo engine, coupled to a ZF 6-speed manual gearbox. The engine produces an output power of 279 hp and generates a maximum torque of 950 Nm at 1,250 rpm-2,100 rpm. The vehicle can reach 120 km/h and offers a cruising range of 1,000 km. It can traverse a fording depth of 1.4m and has a ground clearance of 392 mm.

The Kozak-2M1 is a significant step forward in Ukraine's efforts to modernize its military capabilities. Designed to meet the specific needs of airborne brigades and special operations forces, this vehicle is well-equipped to handle a variety of combat scenarios.
