During their tour of the Kielce exhibition and congress center, representatives from the Polish Ministry of Defense were joined by Hyungdon Park from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and Euna Cho from the South Korean Defense Acquisition Program Administration. The group engaged in discussions about the Lead Nation Exhibition arrangements. These discussions included key figures such as Andrzej Mochoń PhD, the President of Targi Kielce, Arkadiusz Krzeczkowski, the Director of the Exhibition Department, Agnieszka Białek, MSPO Project Director, and representatives from the Ministry of National Defense including Colonel Krzysztof Komorowski, Adam Mazgal, and Agnieszka Chryc.
This marks the second time that South Korea has been honored with the Lead Nation Exhibition status at the International Defense Industry Exhibition MSPO in Targi Kielce. The decision to invite South Korea as the lead partner is a natural progression given the previous agreements for substantial military equipment purchases by the Polish government from Korea, which were formalized at the previous year's defense industry trade show in Kielce.
South Korea's first Lead Nation Exhibition was in 2017, where its impressive display included not only vehicles and equipment but also an awe-inspiring taekwondo performance. The President of Targi Kielce, Andrzej Mochoń PhD, recalled the impact of that exhibition. He highlighted the parallels between the historical situations of Poland and South Korea after World War II, noting the positive reputation and progress that Korea has achieved in Poland.
Captain Jinsol Park from the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea expressed confidence in the success of this year's exhibition, praising the commitment and professionalism he witnessed. Yeon Jeong Cho, Deputy Director at the ministry, also emphasized the importance of the Lead Nation Exhibition for fostering future cooperation between the two countries.
The Lead Nation Exhibition by South Korea at Targi Kielce will showcase the country's major defense industry achievements, including equipment ordered for the Polish army. Notable items include Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers and a multi-purpose UGV uncrewed ground vehicle from Hanwha, K2 tanks, the K808 wheeled armored vehicle, and defense UAV and unmanned ground vehicle mock-ups from Hyundai Rotem, as well as various offerings from Kia Corporation, SNT Dynamics, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), LS MTRON, Poongsan, and Huneed Technologies.
The detailed presentation of South Korea's defense industry achievements at MSPO will be disclosed soon. The International Defense Industry Exhibition is scheduled to take place in Targi Kielce from September 5 to 8, 2023.
