The launching and semi-automatic guiding system for 2T5 and Malyutka (Malyutka 9M14P1 and improved Malyutka 2T and Malyutka 2F) ATGMs was designed for the modernization of the military vehicle BOV M-83, also known as POLO (protivoklopno lansirno oruđe) M-83, and other platforms capable of being equipped with Malyutka missiles.

The self-propelled anti-tank guided missile system M83 is intended for combat against moving and stationary armored vehicles. The BOV M83 can be equipped with a missile pod mounted on the roof of the vehicle, containing six anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) in two canisters.

The system for leading and launching is a semiautomatic system (SACLOS) that automatically recognizes the type of missile (up to six missiles) that can be used for combat. It has a maximum reach for guiding 2T5/Malyutka of 5,000/3,000 meters and a minimum reach of 750/500 meters. The maximum flight length is less than 30 seconds, and the missile guiding is semi-automatic (SACLOS) with a command link to missile 2T5/Malyutka via RF/wired connection.

The width of the antenna reach (3 dB) is 70° x 70°, and the missile tracking sensors include WFOV and NFOV CCD cameras. The aiming system is electro-optical, with an aiming device in the form of a TV monitor and a day sensor consisting of a CCD high sensibility sensor. The maximum side speed is 10 meters per second, and it has a probability of hitting stationary targets (2T5/Malyutka) equal to or greater than 80% and a probability of hitting mobile targets equal to or greater than 60%.

The system offers a full azimuth coverage of 360° and an elevation range of -5° to +10°. It operates on a 24V power supply and is designed to function within a temperature range of -30 °C to +50 °C. The guided missiles compatible with this system are ATGM 2T5, Malyutka 9M14P1, 2T, and 2F.
