To design this new AM1 assault rifle, PT Pindad collaborated namely with EOS-T, an optical sight company from South Korea. Some of the sights tested were the Red Dot Sight, Laser Aiming Device, Magnifier, and sighting telescope.
The AM1 looks similar to the U.S. M4. Using a similar design isn't a problem because the patents on the M4 design have long since expired. AM1 is in NATO standard caliber of 5.56mm x 45mm, like other Pindad's previous assault rifles. This weapon is fitted with a telescopic buttstock tube so that the user can adjust the length of the stock butt size.
The rifle is 881mm long and weighs 3.25 kg. Like (nearly) all modern weapons of this kind, it is fitted with a Picatinny rail allowing various accessories to be mounted, namely an optical sight.
