A modified model of the "Obereg" entered service with the Terrestrial Defense Force. The protecting device is equipped with an anti-fragmentation body kit and ceramic plates of increased protection class Br5. This plate can withstand hits from 7.62x54mm rounds, including armor-piercing 7N14 and B32.
The modified "Obereg" in its maximum configuration weighs 9.4 kg, and the area of its anti-fragmentation protection is more than 76 dm². Currently, this is one of the best body armor in the country in terms of quality of protection, covered body surface and weight. The equipment does not restrict movement and has high protective properties, withstanding hits from armor-piercing sniper ammunition and shrapnels.
“Obereg body armor has passed the necessary tests and received a certificate in various modifications for protection classes from Br1 to Br5 inclusive. The demand for this product is growing, so the volume of its production next year will increase. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and other law enforcement agencies, as well as individual regions, charitable organizations helping soldiers in Ukraine, and private individuals, showed interest in “Obereg.” “Octava’s production capabilities allow us to produce bulletproof vests and supply them to customers on a systematic basis,” said Pavel Pavlenko, general director of the Octava plant.
Elements of equipment are made of high-quality waterproof fabric. All sections, including the side ones, have anti-fragmentation layers made of aramid materials, placed in moisture-proof covers. The quality of ammunition protection remains unchanged even in extreme conditions – in water and at temperatures ranging from –40 to + 40 °C.
“Amulet” became the hero of the first episode of the “Our Crash” project, which Rostec launched in its Telegram channel. The Tula body armor was tested together with “classmates” made in America and China. During the tests, "Obereg" became the only sample that completely withstood fire from all ammunition, including 7.62x39mm, 7.62x54mm, and 8.6x70mm (Lapua Magnum).
