During evaluations, the Marker robot, equipped with both a rifle system and a grenade launcher, exhibited swifter response times to emerging targets, superior target recognition, and more precise targeting compared to a human operator. Impressively, the robot displayed remarkable performance both in stationary shooting scenarios and while in motion. The developers elucidated that the robot employs distinct mechanisms for its aiming system and weaponry, thus enabling it to engage multiple targets simultaneously.
Presently, the development team is actively enhancing the robot's firing accuracy and discernment, especially for swiftly moving aerial targets. Notably, the robot has acquired the capability to intercept drones, even those of small size. In May 2023, the Marker platform underwent testing with diverse weaponry options, including a machine gun, a grenade launcher, and anti-tank systems like the Kornet missile.
The initiation of trials for the Marker robotic platform, a collaborative creation of the Advanced Research Foundation and NPO "Android Technology," was announced in early March 2019. The platform's architecture is modular in nature, designed to accommodate various tasks and functionalities. Ultimately, the overarching objective of the Marker project entails the development of a fully autonomous system that can proficiently execute a wide array of tasks independently.
