Russia has been using its S-60 anti-aircraft guns in indirect-fire artillery-like roles against Ukrainian positions and troop concentrations in western Ukraine, EurAsian Times reports. Ukrainian soldiers and their positions have been targeted by these guns, which may have been deployed in response to Ukraine's attacks on Russian defensive lines.

Both Russia and Ukraine have these guns mounted on heavy vehicles, for instance, Ural 4320 6x6 trucks. However, Russia seems to have a more functional defense industrial base, while Ukraine relies heavily on Western arms supplies. The S-60s are now primarily used as artillery weapons and have been described as neutralizing camouflaged fortified positions. They also have a counter-drone system.

The impact of S-60 on the battlefield has been demonstrated in previous videos. Russia uses modernized versions with improved fire control, targeting systems, and better-machined rounds, increasing their range. Ukraine has also used S-60 guns against Russia, mostly as donations from partner countries. These guns have had some success in deterring Russian attacks.

The Ukrainians also use the same gun carriage system. Only the truck chassis differs.

AZP S-60 (Automatic anti-aircraft gun S-60)

AZP S-60 (Automatic anti-aircraft gun S-60) is a Soviet-era towed, road-transportable, short- to medium-range, single-barrel anti-aircraft gun from the 1950s. The gun was extensively used in Warsaw Pact, Middle Eastern and South-East Asian countries. The S-60 fires ammunition in 57×348SR caliber, with ballistics similar to the longer 57×438mm ammunition of Bofors 57mm AA gun, but somewhat weaker than Soviet 57mm anti-tank guns of World War 2. Modern anti-aircraft rounds have not been developed for the gun. People's Republic of China also manufactures ammunition in 57x348SR caliber, designated Type 59 HE-T, Type 59 AP-T, and Type 76 HE-T.
