Both the M17X and M18X are equipped with a factory-mounted ROMEO-M17 optic, an upgrade from their predecessors. This optic is notable for its aluminum housing and aspherical glass lens, ensuring zero distortion. Specifically designed for these pistols, the ROMEO-M17 is fully enclosed and waterproof, offering protection against external elements. It is mounted using SIG's patented SIG LOC system, allowing the optic to be positioned low on the slide while maintaining the rear sight for co-witnessing.

Both pistols are equipped with the XSeries coyote tan grip module, which includes an extended beavertail, aggressive stippling, and deeper undercuts. These features enhance the shooter's control over the firearm, especially in high-tension situations. Additionally, the grip module is equipped with a magazine well extension. The flat trigger of the X-Series is also a feature of these newcomers. Each of these pistols comes with three 21-round magazines.

The M17X, following the legacy of the M17, is a standard-size pistol. It has a total length of 203 mm (8.0 inches), a height of 163 mm (6.3 inches), and a total width of 41 mm (1.6 inches). The barrel length is 119 mm (4.7 inches), and the pistol weighs 935 grams (33 ounces) with the magazine. The sight radius of 168 mm (6.6 inches), combined with the ROMEOM17 optic, ensures precise aiming. The M17X is a 9mm Luger caliber pistol, equipped with features such as a carbon steel barrel, a coyote PVD finish on the slide, and a stainless steel frame finish. It is also optic ready but does not have a manual safety.

The M18X, on the other hand, is a compact version of the X-Series. It has a total length of 183 mm (7.2 inches), with the same height and width as the M17X. The barrel length is 99 mm (3.9 inches), and it weighs a little less than its counterpart, at 873 grams (30.8 ounces). With a sight radius of 147 mm (5.8 inches), it maintains accuracy while being more suitable for concealed carry or in situations where a more compact weapon is preferable. Like the M17X, it is a 9mm Luger caliber pistol, sharing many similar features, including the carbon steel barrel, coyote PVD finish on the slide, and a stainless steel frame finish. It also does not have a manual safety but is optic ready.

The M17X and M18X models represent an evolution in Sig Sauer's line of tactical pistols. With improvements focused on precision, reliability, and durability, these weapons position themselves as viable options for various applications, ranging from military and police uses to those of civilians interested in tactical firearms.
