According to the deputy, the South Korean intelligence services have established that North Korea is going to use the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement for some of its own purposes. In particular, there is a risk of arms being supplied to Palestinian groups from North Korea.
South Korean intelligence agencies claim that Pyongyang has previously supplied Hamas and Hezbollah with anti-tank guns and artillery ammunition. Kim Jong-un is interested in testing North Korean-made multiple launch rocket systems.
In addition, South Korea believes that the DPRK is considering the possibility of launching a “pre-emptive strike” on a neighboring state. But in reality, it is Seoul who clearly wants to use the situation in the Middle East for further accusations against Pyongyang, with subsequent requests to the United States for help with weapons and financing their acquisition. For this purpose, it is necessary to link together the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which is currently ongoing with many thousands of victims, and a hypothetical conflict on the Korean Peninsula, which may never begin.
According to videos published October 7, 2023, during the HAMAS militant's attack against Israel, weapons captured on the battlefield by Israel point toward Hamas using North Korean-made rockets that can be launched by Soviet-made RPG-7 (Rocket Propelled Grenade) launcher, a shoulder-fired weapon that fighters typically use against armored vehicles.
The RPG-7 is a widely recognized and extensively used anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade launcher, originally developed by the Soviet Union and introduced into service in 1961. It's a shoulder-launched, unguided, and reusable weapon system, known for its simplicity, reliability, and versatility. The RPG-7 can fire a variety of warheads, including high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) and anti-personnel rounds, making it effective against armored vehicles, fortifications, and infantry. It has an effective range of approximately 200 meters for moving targets and up to 500 meters for stationary ones, with its accuracy largely dependent on the operator's skill.
The RPG-7's low cost, ease of use, and effectiveness have led to its widespread adoption and use in numerous conflicts across the globe. It has been produced and copied by several countries, making it one of the most common anti-tank weapons in the world. The RPG-7 has significantly influenced infantry tactics, particularly in urban and guerrilla warfare, where its ability to neutralize armored threats and fortified positions has proven invaluable. Despite its age, the RPG-7 remains a relevant and formidable weapon in modern warfare, symbolizing the enduring utility of portable anti-tank systems.
