It clarifies that, by order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the first batch of 125 mm shells for T-64, T-72 and T-80 tanks has already been delivered, with which the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine beat the invaders, Interfax news agency reports.

Ukraine has a long history of producing ammunition for military and civilian use. The country's ammunition production sector dates back to the Soviet era, when Ukraine was a part of the USSR and produced a significant share of the Soviet Union's military hardware. After the collapse of the USSR in 1991, Ukraine inherited a large portion of the Soviet Union's military-industrial complex, including many ammunition factories. Today, Ukraine has several major ammunition producers, including:

* Ukroboronprom: The state-owned company Ukroboronprom is Ukraine's largest defense manufacturer, with over 100 subsidiaries producing everything from small arms to military aircraft. The company's ammunition division, Ukroboronservice, produces a wide range of ammunition types, including small-caliber rounds, artillery shells, and rocket-propelled grenades.

* Artem Holding: Artem Holding is a private company that produces a range of ammunition types, including artillery shells, tank rounds, and small-caliber ammunition. The company also produces fuses and other components used in military munitions.

* Progress State Research and Production Rocket Space Center: Progress State Research and Production Rocket Space Center is a state-owned company that produces a range of rocket and missile systems, including the R-27 and R-29 submarine-launched ballistic missiles. The company also produces some types of artillery shells and other ammunition.

Overall, Ukraine's ammunition production sector is a significant contributor to the country's economy and military capabilities. However, the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine has put a strain on the sector, with many factories located in the conflict zone and facing significant disruptions.

Ukroboron’s press service writes that "For the first time since independence, Ukraine has launched its own production of ammunition: 82 mm and 120 mm mortars, 122 mm and 152 mm artillery rounds, and now 125 mm tank shells. For safety reasons, production facilities have been moved outside the country, but our people are involved in the creation of ammunition: designers, technologists, turners, casters, etc.," the press service of the concern emphasizes.

They add that Ukroboronprom recently signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the supply of 120 mm mortar mines, which are also being created in cooperation with one NATO member country.
