Polish company MESKO presents PIORUN MANPADS at WDS 2024.

MESKO Spółka Akcyjna, a leading Polish defense manufacturer located in Skarżysko-Kamienna, is currently presenting the PIORUN Man-Portable Air-Defense System (MANPADS) at the World Defense Show (WDS) 2024. The PIORUN MANPADS is engineered to target aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, and winged rockets effectively. This system is both in production and actively deployed within the Polish Armed Forces, and has also been exported to other countries.

The PIORUN MANPADS features a proximity fuze warhead that utilizes FRAG-HE (Fragmentation-High Explosive) technology, designed for maximum effectiveness against a variety of aerial threats. It boasts an operational altitude range from 10 meters to 4,000 meters, and a distance range of 400 meters to 6,500 meters, with an average flight speed of 560 meters per second. The missile set has a total weight of 19.5 kg, emphasizing its portability for ground forces.

Missiles equipped with the PIORUN system are packaged in pairs within durable PELI transport cases, ensuring they are safeguarded during transport and readily accessible for rapid deployment. This packaging approach highlights the system's readiness and adaptability in diverse operational scenarios.
