ADEX 2024 Day 1: Azerbaijan unveils new armored vehicles, laser weapon Fireforce and advanced drones.


The opening day of ADEX 2024 showcased Azerbaijan’s latest advancements in defense technology, attracting global attention with a range of newly developed armored vehicles, drones, and advanced weapons systems.

Leading the charge was Azersilah, presenting its latest armored troop carrier, the Babir 3M. This state-of-the-art vehicle highlights the country's commitment to enhancing ground forces' mobility and protection in modern combat scenarios.

One of the most notable reveals of the day was Azerbaijan's first domestically produced laser weapon, named "Fireforce." This high-energy laser system marks a significant milestone for Azerbaijan in developing indigenous defense capabilities, emphasizing precision and high-tech solutions in modern warfare.

The UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) segment continued to dominate the spotlight, with Turkish defense giant Baykar unveiling an array of drones. The Bayraktar TB2, already well-known for its performance in past conflicts, was joined by the highly capable Akinci and the Kalkan drones, both of which boast improved endurance and strike capabilities.

Additionally, local defense firm Umud Technologies presented the 9K33MB Osa-MB Air Defense System. This modernized version of the Soviet-era missile system has been adapted to meet the demands of today's rapidly evolving battlefield, offering enhanced targeting and interception capabilities.
