From the early hours of Day 1, the exhibition floor was filled with a dynamic display of cutting-edge defense solutions, with the UAE-based EDGE Group making a powerful impact through one of the largest showcases at IDEX 2025. With over 200 products on display, EDGE presented its latest advancements in drones, smart weapons, small arms, ammunition, missiles, and electronic warfare systems. One of the most significant unveilings was the HT-750, an unmanned helicopter designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), troop transport, and medical evacuation missions. This new system highlights EDGE’s push toward AI-driven and autonomous defense technologies, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a leader in next-generation military solutions.

The Chinese defense industry also marked a strong presence on the first day of IDEX 2025, unveiling the SH16A, a new wheeled self-propelled howitzer equipped with a fully unmanned 155mm turret. This system showcases China’s focus on automation, increased firepower, and enhanced crew safety, aligning with global trends in modern artillery. Alongside the SH16A, Chinese exhibitors displayed a range of air defense systems, including advanced mobile platforms designed to detect and counter aerial threats, reflecting China’s growing role in supplying modern military technologies to the global market.

Russia’s defense industry introduced an upgraded version of its well-known T-90MS main battle tank, now featuring enhanced armor protection and integrated systems designed to counter aerial drone attacks. The new variant includes electronic jamming capabilities specifically developed to neutralize drone threats, an increasing concern in contemporary warfare. These advancements demonstrate Russia’s continued investment in armored warfare, adapting its battle tanks to the latest battlefield challenges with improved survivability and combat effectiveness.

Alongside the impressive technological displays, the first day of IDEX 2025 also saw major defense contracts and agreements. The UAE’s Tawazun Council announced defense deals totaling AED 3.97 billion, underscoring the country’s commitment to strengthening its military capabilities through advanced procurement and strategic partnerships. These agreements highlight IDEX’s role as a key platform for global defense cooperation and military acquisitions.
