Nurol Makina is establishing itself as a key supplier of light armored vehicles, with more than 2,000 units delivered to 20 user countries in the past six to seven years. The company operates production facilities in Türkiye, Hungary, and the United Kingdom, and emphasizes its supply chain integration within NATO countries, an asset in light of increasing industrial requirements within the European defense sector.
The NMS-L 4x4 is the newest addition to Nurol Makina’s product line and was unveiled for the first time at FEINDEF. Built on a modular architecture and using scalable composite armor, the vehicle meets NATO standards for ballistic and mine protection. With a gross vehicle weight of approximately 10 tons, the NMS-L is designed for air mobility, including sling-loading under a CH-47 Chinook, making it suitable for rapid deployment and expeditionary operations.
The vehicle is equipped with a fully independent suspension system to enhance off-road performance and stability. It features seating for five personnel, four side doors, and a rear door for fast ingress and egress. Designed to operate in a wide range of environments, the NMS-L performs across a temperature range from -32°C to +55°C. Optional configurations include remote-controlled weapon stations, 360° vision systems, automatic fire suppression, sirens, public address systems, and the integration of a grenade launcher for civil protection and high-risk scenarios.
The NMS-L builds on operational experience from the NMS 4x4 (also known as Yörük), which is already in service, including in Estonia. Estonia was the first EU customer to procure a heavily customized version of the NMS 4x4 equipped with advanced anti-armor capabilities. Under a €200 million agreement signed on October 18, 2023, Estonia is receiving 100 NMS 4x4 vehicles and 130 Otokar Arma 6x6 armored personnel carriers. Deliveries began in late 2024 and are expected to continue through the end of 2025. The vehicles are now operational within Estonia’s 2nd Infantry Brigade and are also being used by domestic security forces.
According to Emre Akin, FEINDEF 2025 provided a valuable opportunity to engage with a broad range of defense actors across Europe, confirming growing interest in Turkish armored vehicles. Nurol Makina stated its readiness to localize maintenance, modernization, or even production activities in Europe, leveraging its existing industrial footprint.
By presenting the NMS-L 4x4 at FEINDEF 2025, Nurol Makina reaffirmed its strategic interest in the European defense market, offering a modular, mobile, and NATO-compatible platform tailored to a variety of operational requirements. With its recent success in Estonia and a demonstrated ability to adapt vehicles to specific mission profiles, the company positions itself as a relevant player in the growing demand for protected mobility solutions across Europe.
