Inside VIDEX 2024 as IAG Unveils Guardian Xtreme MRAP and OPTIX Presents New Surveillance Solutions.

At the VIDEX 2024 exhibition held in Hanoi, Army Recognition met with several defense industry representatives showcasing their innovative solutions to address regional security challenges. In this exclusive video, we present two filmed interviews: first with International Armored Group (IAG), highlighting its Guardian Xtreme MRAP armored vehicle, exhibited as part of a ten-year partnership with the Vietnamese government, and second with Bulgarian company OPTIX, which presented two advanced surveillance and observation solutions designed for border monitoring and tactical operations.

Interviewed at the stand of International Armored Group (IAG), the company’s representative detailed the features of the Guardian Xtreme MRAP, a next-generation armored vehicle designed for combat, patrol, and surveillance missions in hostile environments. Offered in 4x4 and 6x6 versions, the Guardian Xtreme features a V-shaped hull protecting mines and improvised explosive devices in accordance with STANAG 4569 Levels 2a, 2b, and 3a. Its structure can be upgraded to Level 3 ballistic protection with additional lightweight armor.

The vehicle can carry up to 12 fully equipped soldiers, including the driver and commander, and is fitted with certified blast-attenuating seats. Several optional systems are available, including remotely operated weapon stations, thermal surveillance cameras, and grenade launcher systems.

This presentation is part of a solid partnership between IAG and the Vietnamese authorities, initiated a decade ago to enhance the country’s armored mobility capabilities.

The second part of the video focuses on Bulgarian company OPTIX, which showcased two systems at the exhibition: the MS One, a multisensor surveillance platform for border control, and the Bidentifier 75MS bi-ocular thermal imaging device.

The MS One is a modular system capable of detecting human or vehicle intrusions at over 10 km, day or night, even in challenging weather conditions. It is intended for quick integration on fixed or mobile posts to provide broad coverage and rapid threat response.

The Bidentifier 75MS is a portable bi-ocular thermal imaging device with a laser rangefinder, designed for armed forces and internal security units. Featuring an uncooled thermal sensor and a 75 mm lens, the system enables human detection beyond 2,700 meters and vehicle recognition beyond 6,000 meters. It includes wireless video transmission and integrated GPS, making it ideal for reconnaissance, strategic surveillance, and remote target acquisition operations.

VIDEX 2024 is emerging as a strategic platform for defense companies looking to strengthen their presence in Southeast Asia. IAG, by showcasing its cooperation with Vietnam through the Guardian Xtreme MRAP, and OPTIX, by presenting high-end surveillance solutions, both demonstrate their intent to address the growing operational needs of the region’s armed forces. Watch our dual interview below to discover these innovations on video.
