Each year
the Michelson Award honors a civilian scientist, technical innovator or
technical organization for scientific or technical achievement that results
in a significant improvement in the strength of the U.S. maritime forces
or the enhancement of the nation’s industrial technology base. “Curtiss-Wright is privileged to have had the services of Jim Drake for his long and distinguished career. He has dedicated his professional life to serving the U.S. Navy and its Naval Nuclear Program,” said Greg Hempfling, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EMS division. “For over 44 years, Jim has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and dedication in identifying ingenious solutions for the Navy’s most critical challenges. This award is a testament to his dedication to duty, professional accomplishments and unwavering personal commitment.” Mr. Drake is a career employee of Curtiss-Wright, having served in various capacities of increasing responsibility since joining the company in 1972. Through his 44+ years of service, Jim has worked on every product designed and manufactured at the EMD facility located in Cheswick, Pa. Jim recently retired as General Manager of the EMD business unit of Curtiss-Wright. In addition to honoring Jim at this year’s Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Exposition, Curtiss-Wright will also be exhibiting its technology and products at Booth #2317 from May 16-18, 2016, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. |
