Odintsovo Project 22800 Karakurt class Corvette officially enters in service with Russian Navy.
According to information published by the Russian Ministry of Defense on November 18, 2020, the new Project 22800 Karakurt class Corvette ‘Odintsovo’ will be officially commissioned by the Russian Navy on November 21, 2020. This is the first surface ship of the Russian Navy equipped with the Pantsir-M anti-aircraft missile-gun systems.

The Karakurt class, Russian designation Project 22800 Karakurt is a series of latest class of corvettes (small missile ships in Russian classification) under construction for the Russian Navy. A total of 16 ships has been ordered by the Russian navy and two of them are already in service.
A few days ago, Navy Recognition published news to announce that the ‘Odintsovo’ corvette has successfully completed state and sea trial. The acceptance certificate was signed on November 14, 2020, confirming the completion of state and sea tests of the ship.
The Karakurt-class corvette is designed by Almaz Design Bureau and manufactured by Pella Shipyard. The ship features stealth technology and is based on a modular design allowing the development of different types ships that can be configured to mission requirements.
The Karakurt-class corvette is armed with a 76.2 mm 59-caliber AK-176MA or a 100 mm A-190 automatic dual-purpose naval guns, a Pantsir-M air defense missile-gun system, eight UKSK VLS (Vertical Launching Systems) cells for Kalibr or Oniks anti-ship cruise missiles, and two 14.5 mm MTPU machine guns.
The Karakurt-class corvette is powered by a combined diesel and gas system that includes three M-507D-1 diesel engines and three DGAS-315 diesel generators. The ship can reach a top speed of 30 knots (56 km/h; 35 mph) with a maximum cruising range of 2,500 nmi (4,600 km; 2,900 mi) and an endurance of 15 days.
The Karakurt-class corvette also carries an Orlan-10 drone with a range of 120 km. It is used as a scout and pointer. Drones make warships practically invisible, as they do not have to switch on radars and be detected by the adversary.
