Large amphibious ships of the Kaiman class are a radically redesigned project of the ship “Ivan Gren”, completed by the “Nevsky Design Bureau.”
In particular, the new ships have a revised surface part: a massive superstructure over the entire width of the hull in the bow and a smooth deck in the stern.
The class will have a displacement of 7,000 tons and be powered by two diesel engines with a total capacity of up to 9000 kW, speed - up to 18 knots , cruising range - not less than 5000 miles with a 14-knot course.
The vessels will be armed with one 30 mm AK-630M-2 gun and two 30 mm AK-630 guns that is a Soviet and Russian fully automatic naval close-in weapon system based on a six-barreled 30 mm rotary cannon.
The Ivan Gren class, Russian designation Project 11711, is a class of landing ship that is being built for the Russian Navy. The Project 11711 lead ship Ivan Gren built at the Yantar Shipyard was delivered to the Russian Navy in June 2018.
