The HIGUARD is a 6x6 combat vehicle in the category of MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle designed and manufactured by Renault Trucks Defense. The HIGUARD was unveiled for the first time to the public at the International Defense Exhibition Eurosatory in 2008. The vehicle is mainly marketed as internal security or law enforcement vehicle. The HIGUARD vehicle is derived from a Sherpa medium 6x6. This vehicle can provide very high levels of protection in certain configurations and can transport up to twelve fully-equipped personnel. Its dissuasive silhouette makes it highly suitable to law enforcement units. The Higuard can be airlifted by the C-130 or A400M military transport aircraft. In 2012, Qatar has take delivery of the first HIGUARD vehicle for its Internal Security Services. On July 8, 2015, Singapore minister for Defence officially commissions the Peacekeeper Protected Response Vehicle (PRV) a modified version of French HIGUARD.

The HIGUARD MRAP can be fitted with a full range of armament. The vehicle can be fitted with an open top turret mounted at the front top of the troops compartment which can be armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun. At Eurosatory 2012, the HIGUARD was fitted with the Light Remotely operated Weapon Station FN Herstal deFNder™ armed with 7.62x51mm cal FN MAG™ machine gun.

| Design and protection |

The layout of the HIGUARD MRAP is very similar to a tactical truck with engine at the front, crew in the middle and troops compartment at the rear. The vehicle is protected thanks to a ballistic a mine armour kit provides by the French Company Centigon. The HIGUARD uses a V-shaped hull which increases vehicle and crew survivability by deflecting an upward directed blast from a landmine (or Improvised Explosive Device) away from the vehicle. The front of the crew cabin is fitted with two large bulletproof windows and each side has a single door with one single bulletproof window on the upper part. The troop compartment is at the rear of the vehicle and the troops enter and leave by two doors in the rear of the hull which can be replaced by a power-operated ramp. Each side of the troops compartment is fitted with three small bulletproof windows. The vehicle can carry a total of 12 military personnel including driver and commander. The vehicle armour offers a basic protection against small arms caliber and shell splinters. In option, the HIGUARD MRAP can be fitted with add-on armour kit to increase protection of the vehicle.

The HIGUARD MRAP is based on a Renault Trucks Defense military truck chassis 6x6 Sherpa, with two wheels at the front and four wheels at the rear. The vehicle is motorized with Renault MD-7 Diesel engine coupled to a ZF 9S1310 mechanical gearbox with 8 forward and 1 reverse gears. The suspension uses double parabolic leaf springs, telescopic shock absorbers and stabilizer bar. The HIGUARD MRAP can run at a maximum road speed of 90 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 850 km. The vehicles can negotiate gradients up to 60%, side slope of 30% fording depth of 1.2m without preparation. It can cross a trench of 0.9m and climb a vertical obstacle of 0.5m.
