According to information published by forum.lowyat.net in December 2020, Northern Shipyard from Malaysia has finalized the construction of four Manta Mk II fast patrol boats for the Nigerian Navy.

Northern Shipyard manager, Masmawi Ishak said the firm had been picked by Suncraft Private Limited, a Singapore company and the Nigerian Navy, to be the center to build the four patrol boats involving a contract worth RM32 million in February 2020.

The Manta Mk II is a fast patrol boat available in many models and has been conceived for coast patrol, territory defense, marine interception, anti-smuggling, etc.

The Manta ASD is totally built in aluminum and its onboard weight distribution is conceived as to obtain an optimal position of the center of gravity. The main characteristics of this patrol boat is high stability during high speed, good sea keeping, and high maneuverability.

The Suncraft International Manta Mk II is powered by two 1 200 hp diesel engines and can reach a top speed from 45 and 50 knots. The vessel features ballistic protection, can carry a crew of six, and has a range of 250 nautical miles at 35 knots.
