China send frigate Yueyang to escort it's fishing vessels in Gulf of Aden.

According to information published by China Mil on April 12, 2022, three Chinese fishing vessels arrived at the terminal of their escorted journey in the west of the Gulf of Aden under the escort of the guided-missile frigate Yueyang (Hull 575) attached to the 40th Chinese naval escort taskforce.

Yueyang (575) is a Type 054A frigate of the People's Liberation Army Navy. She was commissioned on 3 May 2013. Yueyang was laid down in June 2010 and launched on 10 May 2012 at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai. Commissioned on 3 May 2013.

Type 054A (Jiangkai II) is a class of guided-missile frigate from the People's Republic of China. The Type 054A entered service with the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) in January 2008.

The Type 054A is 140 meters long with a displacement of 4,000 tonnes full load. The ship has a range of over 4,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 18 knots.

The Type 054A is powered by a combined diesel and diesel (CODAD) propulsion system including four Shaanxi 16 PA6 STC diesel, each developing 5700 kW. The ship can reach a top speed of 27 knots with an estimated cruising range of 8,025 nautical miles (14,862 km). The ship has a crew of 165 people.

The Type 054A carries HQ-16 medium-range air defense missiles and anti-submarine missiles in a vertical launching system (VLS) system. The HQ-16 has a range of up to 50 km, with superior range and engagement angles to the Type 054's HQ-7. Type 054A's VLS uses a hot launch method; a shared common exhaust system is sited between the two rows of rectangular launching tubes.
