Russian Navy's corvette launches Kalibr cruise missile in Black Sea.

According to a video published by Военный Осведомитель on June 7, 2022, a Russian ship believed to be a Buyan-class corvette fired Kalibr cruise missiles at Ukrainian targets from the Black Sea.

The Buyan-M-class guided missile corvette Russian designation 21631 was laid down in April 2015. She was launched in April 2020 and commissioned in January 2021. The ship is primarily designed for operations within littoral zones to protect Russia's vast coastal areas.

The Buyan-M-class corvette is powered by CODAD (Combined diesel and diesel) propulsion system that includes four Zvezda M520 developing 14,584 horsepowers (10,880 kW) and Kolomna Diesel, Pumpjet.

She can reach a top speed of 26 knots (48 km/h) with a maximum cruising range 2,300 nmi (4,300 km) at 12 knots. She has a length of 75 m, a beam of 11 m, and a displacement of 949 tons. The corvette has a crew of 52 sailors and an endurance of 10 days.

The corvette is armed with one 100 mm A-190-01 naval gun, two 30 mm AK-630-M2 CIWS (Close-In Weapon System), one Pantsir-M CIWS (Stavropol) air defense missile system, height UKSK VLS (Vertical Launching System) cells for Kalibr or Oniks anti-ship cruise missiles, eight Komar surface-to-air missiles, one DP-65 anti-saboteur grenade launcher and two 14.5 mm KPV type anti-aircraft four-barrel machine guns.

About the Kalibr cruise missile

The 3M-54 Kalibr, also referred to it as 3M54-1 Kalibr, 3M14 Biryuza, 91R1, and 91RT2, is a family of Russian cruise missiles developed by the Novator Design Bureau (OKB-8). There are ship-launched, submarine-launched and air-launched versions of the missile, and variants for anti-ship, anti-submarine and land attack use.
