USS Gravely (DDG-107) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer in the United States Navy. She is named after Vice Admiral Samuel L. Gravely, Jr.
The Arleigh Burke is a class of guided-missile destroyers (DDG) in service with the United States Navy built around the Aegis Combat System, an American integrated naval weapons system developed by the Missile and Surface Radar Division of RCA, and now produced by Lockheed Martin.
The Arleigh Burke Flight IIA ships have several new features, beginning with USS Oscar Austin (DDG-79). Among the changes is the addition of two hangars for antisubmarine warfare (ASW) helicopters, and a new, longer 5-inch/62-caliber (127 mm) Mark 45 Mod 4 naval gun (installed onto USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG-81) and later ships).
With an overall length of 505 to 509.5 feet (153.9 to 155.3 m), displacement ranging from 8,230 to 9,700 tons, and weaponry including over 90 missiles, the Arleigh Burke-class are larger and more heavily armed than most previous ships classified as guided missile cruisers.
USS Gravely is powered by gas turbine propulsion. Employing four General Electric LM 2500-30 gas turbines to produce 100,000 total shaft hp via a dual-shaft design, Arleigh Burke-class destroyers are capable to reach a maximum speed of 35 knots in open seas.
The armament Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer includes standard Missile (SM-2MR); Vertical Launch ASROC (VLA) missiles; Tomahawk; six MK-46 torpedoes (from two triple tube mounts); Close-In Weapon System (CIWS), 5-in. MK 45 Gun.
