The Project P-750B "Serval" is a cutting-edge small multipurpose submarine being developed by the Malakhit Marine Engineering Bureau in St. Petersburg.
It was first showcased at the Army-2019 defense exhibition, where representatives from the bureau outlined some unique design elements, including the use of the latest air-independent propulsion (AIP) system.
At the more recent Army-2023 edition, this submarine was once again on display, and journalists noted significant advancements in the design. A notable inclusion is a small compartment, approximately 8 by 4 meters, in the bow section of the submarine's light hull.
This compartment is believed to be engineered for housing one or two mini-submarines for sabotage missions or sea drones, suitable for reconnaissance and combat roles.
The Project P-750B Serval is equipped with a gas turbine AIP system, as emphasized earlier. Moreover, its arsenal boasts 533 mm torpedo tubes, capable of deploying torpedoes, mines, and launching missiles, including the "Kalibr" cruise missiles which can initiate a horizontal launch from underwater.
The Russian submarine possesses a displacement of slightly under 1500 tons, spans a length of 65 meters, and can dive up to 300 meters. Its operational range approaches 4500 miles with a 30-day endurance. Additionally, thanks to superior automation, the vessel requires a crew of just 20 submariners.
