This system, designed using entirely local and national resources, marks a significant milestone in Turkey’s development of naval technologies. The initial version of the UUV, named the STM NETA 300, is intended for mine detection missions and has broad applications in both military and civilian operations.

STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz highlighted the increasing role of unmanned systems in modern battlefields and emphasized STM’s experience in naval and aerial platforms. He described the STM NETA 300 as a compact, flexible, and modular vehicle capable of operating autonomously at depths of up to 300 meters.

Equipped with sonar systems, including synthetic aperture sonar, the vehicle excels in mine detection, environmental surveillance, and other underwater tasks. It is optimized for high-precision detection of mines or other underwater threats, making it useful in a variety of missions, including intelligence, anti-submarine warfare, and search and rescue.

The STM NETA 300's ability to be deployed from various surface platforms and its operational versatility position it for both military functions—such as reconnaissance and port defense—and civilian tasks, including seabed surveys and marine archaeology. Güleryüz also hinted at export potential, with plans to offer the STM NETA family to friendly and allied nations, further contributing to Turkey’s defense capabilities and its growing defense export industry.

At SAHA EXPO 2024, STM is showcasing several advanced naval platforms, highlighting its contributions to the Turkish defense sector and international collaborations. Key displays include Türkiye's first national frigate, TCG İstanbul (F-515), designed and built by STM, and the MİLGEM Ada-Class corvette, both of which will be available for close inspection by delegations at nearby harbors. In addition, STM is exhibiting models of the İstif-Class Frigate, Logistics Support Ship, STM500 submarine, STM MPAC Multi-Purpose Attack Craft, and Coast Guard Ships at their expo stand.
