European Waters

In European waters, the RNLN is actively involved in NATO and EU missions, primarily focusing on the North Atlantic and Mediterranean regions. They contribute to Operation Sea Guardian, which is NATO's maritime security operation in the Mediterranean, aimed at maintaining maritime situational awareness.

Caribbean and South America

The Royal Netherlands Navy maintains a permanent presence in the Caribbean, with a focus on counter-narcotics operations, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief. The RNLN's support ship, HNLMS Pelikaan, is stationed in the region to provide logistical support, while patrol vessels regularly conduct anti-smuggling operations in cooperation with local authorities.

Middle East

In the Middle East, the RNLN participates in international coalitions to ensure maritime security and free flow of commerce through critical chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz. They have contributed to Combined Task Force 150, a multinational coalition focused on maritime security and counter-terrorism operations

Arctic and Northern Europe

The Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) is increasingly focused on the Arctic and Northern Europe due to climate change opening new maritime routes and exposing resources. The RNLN collaborates with NATO allies in joint exercises like Cold Response and Joint Warrior to enhance collective security and operational readiness in cold conditions.
