WDS 2024: Navantia showcases Saudi Avante 2200 corvette Al Jubail.

At the World Defense Show (WDS) 2024, Navantia presented its Avante 2200 corvette, the Al Jubail, as part of its naval construction portfolio.

This vessel has a displacement of 2,419 tons and a length of 99 meters, designed to fulfill a variety of maritime roles. The Al Jubail is built with a beam of 13.6 meters and a draught of 3.8 meters, powered by a CODAD propulsion system that includes four MTU 12V-1163-TB93 engines, each producing 4,440 kW (5,950 hp).

It features two shafts with Wärtsilä 5C11 CP propellers, enabling speeds up to 24 knots, with cruising and economy speeds at 22 and 18 knots, respectively. The vessel has a range of 3,500 nautical miles at an economy speed of 18 knots.

Accommodating 60 crew members and additional space for 32 personnel, the corvette is equipped to handle various mission profiles. Its sensor suite includes the Leonardo Kronos NV 3D multifunctional radar and Thales systems for electronic support and tracking, enhancing its surveillance capabilities.

The Al Jubail's armament consists of an Oto Melara 76 mm main gun, an Oerlikon Millennium 35 mm Naval Revolver Gun System, and machine guns. It also has a 16-cell Mk 41 Vertical Launching System for RIM-162 ESSM missiles, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and torpedo tubes. Additionally, the corvette features aviation facilities with a flight deck and hangar for helicopter operations.
