INS Nilgiri represents the next generation of stealth frigates. It builds upon the success of the Shivalik-class with enhanced stealth features to reduce radar, infrared, acoustic, and electromagnetic signatures. Armed with advanced weaponry, including Barak-8 surface-to-air missiles and BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, Nilgiri is equipped for multi-role operations, including anti-submarine warfare, air defense, and surface strike capabilities. Its sophisticated sensors, such as the MF-STAR radar and integrated sonar systems, enhance its situational awareness and combat readiness. The ship also boasts modern aviation facilities, capable of operating helicopters like the MH-60R Seahawk, with features like a Rail-Less Helicopter Traversing System ensuring seamless operations in diverse conditions.
INS Surat, the fourth and final destroyer in the Project 15B class, is an evolution of the Kolkata-class destroyers, integrating advanced stealth technology and powerful weapon systems. It is designed to operate as a multi-dimensional warship, capable of countering threats across air, surface, and subsurface domains. Armed with BrahMos missiles for precision strikes and Barak-8 for long-range air defense, Surat features cutting-edge systems such as the EL/M-2248 MF-STAR radar and HUMSA-NG sonar, offering robust situational awareness and combat capability. Its design prioritizes survivability and damage control, while its aviation facilities enable helicopter operations to extend its operational reach.
INS Vaghsheer, the final submarine in the Kalvari-class, represents a pinnacle of diesel-electric submarine design. Renowned for its stealth and versatility, it is equipped with advanced sonar systems, heavyweight torpedoes, and Exocet anti-ship missiles. Vaghsheer is capable of conducting a wide range of missions, including anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, area surveillance, and special operations. The submarine’s modular construction allows for future integration of Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology, enhancing its underwater endurance. Its combat systems, such as the Submarine Tactical Integrated Combat System.
