MADI starts developing new amphibious platform for Russian Airborne Troops
The Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI) has started developing a versatile amphibious platform for light, extra light and heavy vehicles operational with the Airborne Force, the Airborne Force’s press office said.

"The Airborne Force and top specialists of the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University have started jointly developing an amphibious chassis for vehicles weighing up to two tons and 800 kilograms," the press office said.

"Vehicles with a 4x4 chassis and a two-mode hybrid transmission will combine the characteristics of a quad bike and a snow-going and a floating vehicle. This will allow paratroopers to accomplish tasks in extreme conditions," the press office added.

According to the press office, vehicles of this type will be able to carry up to four paratroopers in full combat gear.

The vehicle’s dismountable system will comprise a 7.62mm and a 12.7mm machinegun.

A high-speed heavy amphibious vehicle with a weight of up to 35 tons is planned to be developed for the Airborne Force in addition to light and extra light amphibious vehicles weighing up to two tons and 800 kilograms, respectively, the press office added.
