The Peruvian Army is currently acquiring over 8,000 FN SCAR-H 7.62mm assault rifles for use as its standard issue rifle. Authorization for the purchase was granted in August 2013, and a contrat was signed in December 2013. The purchase price remains unconfirmed, but the order is estimated to be worth $31.5 million and will involve 8,110 units.

The SCAR-L's smaller size and caliber make it ideal for special forces operations in dense jungle regions. The SCAR-L is also considered the favorite to meet the Marine Corps' need for 700 5.56mm assault rifles. The Marine Corps tender was issued by the Peruvian Armed Forces Procurement Agency in June 2016.
