RT LTA Systems Ltd. – a world-class designer, developer, and manufacturer of aerostats for use in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and communications applications – unveils its communications solution for its SkyStar 100 at AUSA 2015. RT LTA SkyStar 100 Mini Aerostat with Syntonics antenna

The compact solution enables small forces in the field to instantly communicate during emergencies in any terrain. The new solution is the result of a strategic cooperation agreement between RT and Syntonics LLC – a communication solutions manufacturer – that creates a unique aerostat with real-time communication capabilities from any ground surface.

SkyStar 100, RT's mini aerostat, which can also be used by small units and special forces, can be easily deployed within minutes. The Syntonics antenna, the FORAX™-HARC-Mini (Fiber Optic Remote Antenna eXtension---High Antennas for Radio Communications) delivers an extended range for radio communications. Weighing only 2.8 lbs., it enables the lofting of a radio’s antenna as high as 500 ft. (150 m), is easily changed in the field, can be snapped on in seconds, and operates with any push-to-talk radio, making it universally configurable for tactical or emergency applications.

Installed on the SkyStar 100, an RF communications solution is created that neutralizes obstructions due to mountainous terrain – as well as other problems that typically prevent RF communication – when both the antenna and the radio are on the ground. Separating the antenna from the ground communication device and installing it on the aerostat is made possible by the exceptionally flexible fiber optic remote antenna extension. The solution is also suitable for RT's larger aerostats.

According to Rami Shmueli, Managing Director of RT, "This strategic cooperation has created a first-of-its-kind mini-aerostat – the SkyStar 100 with real-time communication capabilities from any type of land surface. The significance of providing communication during emergencies in problematic areas is that lives will be saved – and we are happy that the cooperation between RT and Syntonics has resulted in this life-saving solution."

At the exhibition, RT will also announce innovations in the capabilities of the larger aerostats in its SkyStar Family – the SkyStar 180 and 330. These aerostats will now be able to carry multiple payloads simultaneously, and to integrate EO and communication systems. This enables RT to provide a complete solution, tailored to customer needs. RT systems – with their advantages of ease of use and deployment – are in use around the world.
