Russia Seeks to Improve its Logistics in Ukraine by Delivering a Batch of Depesha Ground Drones to its Troops.
On December 28, 2024, the High-Precision Systems holding, part of the Rostec State Corporation, delivered a new batch of Depesha ground drones to Russian troops in Ukraine, demonstrating the ongoing evolution of unmanned solutions on the modern battlefield. Designed as versatile, remotely operated platforms on a wheeled chassis, Depesha vehicles can be fitted with special modules to carry out various missions, from frontline cargo transport to casualty evacuation.

Depesha’s modular architecture allows for the installation of different payloads and mission-specific equipment. In its transport role, the system can carry up to 200 kg of provisions, fuel, or other supplies while also facilitating the rapid evacuation of wounded personnel from the combat zone. According to the manufacturer, its compact design and cost-effectiveness make it particularly well-suited to high-risk or hard-to-access areas.
“Our engineers at High-Precision Complexes have created a low-cost, compact, and versatile system. Depending on its configuration, it can deliver cargo and perform other tasks. Today, we are developing software and hardware solutions capable of transforming any combat vehicle into a robot, be it a tank, an infantry fighting vehicle, or a self-propelled gun. This approach allows us to use equipment in the most dangerous areas without putting our soldiers at risk,” said Bekkhan Ozdoyev, a member of the Bureau of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia and Industrial Director of the Armaments, Ammunition, and Special Chemicals cluster at Rostec.
Designed to handle challenging terrain, the Depesha is equipped with independent suspension and can reach speeds of up to 30 km/h. Its integrated “Prometheus” hardware and software system ensures autonomous operation over long distances, enhancing both its logistical and tactical capabilities.
High-Precision Systems, a holding within Rostec, produces a wide range of land and air defense platforms. In addition to the recently delivered Depesha drones, the company also manufactures BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, Iskander operational-tactical missile systems, and the Pantsir family of anti-aircraft missile and gun systems. Positive feedback received in real-world conditions speaks to the reliability and effectiveness of the holding’s equipment.
In December 2024, Rostec highlighted its broader approach to efficient logistics with its festive project, “Rostec for Santa Claus: Secrets of Holiday Logistics.” This initiative illustrates the company’s versatility and innovative spirit, whether on the battlefield or in commercial and festive settings.
By integrating advanced software, modular designs, and a strong focus on operational utility, Rostec’s Depesha ground drone marks another major step in expanding Russia’s catalog of unmanned ground platforms. With the ability to perform vital logistics missions and facilitate casualty evacuation, Depesha enhances the troops’ operational capabilities and reflects the growing importance of robotics and automation in modern military operations.
