According to the media outlet "Militarnyi," one of the agreements concerns the supply of components, while the other involves the licensing of ammunition production, including the transfer of technology and documentation for the manufacturing of artillery shells.
The licensing process is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, and production is planned to begin in early 2025. According to the CEO of "Ukrainian Armor," Vladyslav Belbas, around 100,000 munitions are expected to be produced and delivered next year, with an increase to more than 300,000 units in 2026. Equipment preparation has already begun.
Belbas specified that the production of shells would take place both in Ukraine and in the Czech Republic, which will allow for an increase in production volumes and a reduction in the cost of finished products.
The agreement between "Ukrainian Armor" and Czechoslovak Group will help address key issues in supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with essential ammunition, particularly 155 mm high-explosive shells of the type 155 MM HE M107, as well as long-range shells – the 155 MM HE ER-BB VMK/MKM (43 km with a Base Bleed module) and the 155 MM HE ER-BT VMK/MKM (37 km with a Boat Tail module). Additionally, it is planned to produce other types of artillery shells and NATO-caliber tank shells.
This cooperation is part of the development strategy of Czechoslovak Group, as mentioned by its CEO, Michal Strnad. He had pointed out that the company was considering a production partnership with Ukrainian companies, particularly in the field of artillery ammunition.
In addition to shell production, Czechoslovak Group also plans to manufacture other defense products in Ukraine, such as spare parts for armored vehicles and products made from armored steel.
Czechoslovak Group is one of the largest manufacturers of artillery shells in the European Union, bringing together the production capacities of several European factories, such as MSM, ZVS, VOP in Slovakia, FM Granada in Spain, among others. The company also plans to invest heavily in the creation of joint defense enterprises in Ukraine to strengthen the country's defense sector.
