New Russian-made Buk-M3 air defense missile system ready for export.
The Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile complex is being certified for export and is acquiring a corresponding passport, Director General of the Tikhomirov Research Institute of Instrument-Making of Almaz-Antei Concern Yuri Bely told TASS.

"Our medium-range anti-aircraft missile complexes have been successfully exported for half a century. We hope an excellent future is in store on the world market for Buk-M3 which is currently being certified for export," he said.

Bely recalled that anti-aircraft weapons are divided onto four categories: hand-held, small-range, medium and long-range which differ both in technical characteristics and costs.

"The interests of foreign customers depend on the missions they have to deal with and their financial capabilities. It is common knowledge that Russian anti-aircraft complexes of all types occupy a worthy place on the foreign market," he said.

The Buk-M3 is the latest generation of Russian-made air defense missile system in Buk family. It was seen for the first time in service with the Russian armed forces on Russian television report on October 23, 2016.

The standard Buk-M3 9A317M transporter erector launcher and radar (TELAR) vehicle carries six containerised 9M317M missiles, two more than previous Buk TELARS, and its radar is paired with an integrated identification friend-or-foe system.

The Buk-M3 is able to destroy any types of air targets from a range of 2.5 to 70 km, with a speed of 3,000 m/s at an altitude from 15 m to 35 km. The Buk-M3 missile has been optimized for the interception of low-flying cruise missiles but can also engage ground and sea targets.
