The M-ATV SFV (Special Forces Vehicle) is a member of the Oshkosh family of M-ATV mine protected vehicle designed especially for Special Forces units. The Oshkosh Defense® M-ATV special forces vehicle is specifically engineered to be nimble, quick and protective so Special Operation Forces can respond to hostile threats and counterattack elusive adversaries. It’s also adapted for sophisticated, specific and technical missions, offering the visibility, control, storage, payload capacity, durability and mobility vital to success – making it the combat-tested, combat-proven, survivable solution for Special Operation Forces. The SFV variant is designed for special operations units. It delivers M-ATV protection and mobility along with a modified cargo deck, which can accept specialized equipment based on mission requirements, and larger front windscreens. |
Armament |
The standard M-ATV includes gun mounts with gunner protection kits capable of mounting a variety of weapons systems such as the M240B medium machine gun, the M2 .50 caliber heavy machine gun, and the Mk 19 grenade launcher. The M-ATV SFV is equipped with a remote weapons station which is armed with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun.

Design and protection |
The M-ATV SFV as the standard variant uses a V-shaped Plasan armoured hull which provides high protection for the crew against mine and improvised explosive device blasts. The M-ATV has the capability to add protection against attacks by explosively formed penetrators (EFPs) and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) to support mounted patrols, reconnaissance, security, and convoy protection. The hull provides added protection in a ballistic event and seats are suspended from the ceiling, to mitigate blast effects. The M-ATV SFV modifications included five passenger positions including a gunner, protection for the cargo area, rear area access, and some other improvements for human factors.
|
Mobility |
The Oshkosh M-ATV SFV uses a 4×4 chassis. The vehicle is motorized with a Caterpillar® C7, 370 hp. 7.2 L engine coupled to an Allison 3500 automatic transmission with 6-speed. Like the standard M-ATV, the M-ATV Special Forces vehicle incorporates four-wheeled TAK-4® independent suspension system with battle-tested technology to maximize maneuverability and crew safety. It offers mobility for unimproved roads and rugged off-road terrain with 70% off-road mobility and 30% on-road mobility. The M-ATV SFV can run at maximum road speed of 105 km/h.
