Thales promotes its Hakwei Light Protected Vehicle in Poland
At MSPO 2015, being held in Kielce, Poland, from 1-4 September, Thales is promoting its Hawkei Light Protected armored tactical vehicle. The Hawkei was designed within the framework of a modernization of light wheeled vehicles used by the Australian Army. Being currently submitted for the Australian DoD LAND 121 Phase 4 programe, the Hawkei could also fulfill future request of the Polish MoD for this type of vehicle.

Produced by Thales Australia, the Hawkei is a 7-tonne, 4x4, highly mobile, highly protected tactical vehicle, built by Thales in Australia. This leading-edge helicopter-deployable light vehicle represents the next generation in protected mobility, and is ready to export.

With a patented modular design, the Hawkei offers ultra-efficient protection systems. It delivers survivability, markedly against IED3, mines or small arms ambushes.

Thales' Hawkei accomodate a crew of 6 soldiers. It is powered by a six-cylinder, 3.2l direct injection engine rated at 225 kW and producing maximum torque of 680Nm at 2,000 rpm. Its fuel capacity of 250 litres gives it a range of more than 1,000 km, reduced to 800 km if towing the two-wheels Hawkei trailer.

The Hawkei can be equipped with a variety of advanced weapon systems integrated into the vehicle’s digitised architecture to provide a variety of lethality options including Remote Weapon Station up to 12.7 mm HMG or 40 mm Auto Grenade Launcher, or Javelin missile; manned MG pintle mount up to 12.7 mm HMG or 40 mm AGL, or manned MG swing mounts for 5.56 mm & 7.62 mm MG.

The Hawkei is C4I ready with SOTAS IP Smart Platform advanced Vehicle Electronic Architecture. The vehicle can be completely airlifted by a C-130 Hercules or any other standard military transport aircraft or helicopter.
