Denmark lauches Jet Fighter competition to replace its Lockheed Martin F-16 fleet.
 

Four aircraft manufacturers have received a RFI (requests for information) from Denmark to replace its aging fleet of Lockheed Martin F-16. The Four contenders are : Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet, Eurofighter Typhoon, Lockheed Martin F-35A and Saab with its Gripen E.

The new aircraft is likely to enter service in 2020, the selection process ending mid-2015 will be based on the platform’s ability to be updated during its operational life, its operations and maintenance costs, and also a willingness by the companies to develop industrial relationships with Danish industry.

Since 2012, Denmark is a Level 3 signatory to the Joint Strike Fighter program although it does not oblige it to purchase the aircraft.
